The clutches rock solid and takes huge amounts of abuse and never did fail or fade.
Pull is light for a bike this big.
Get rid of the aluminum plates and replace them with steel.
I have heard the arguments about kx 500s pulling away from hondas when they reach their topend.
I have rode three different kx 500s and tend to agree with just this one exception.
With this particular motor, the question is not one of power, but of gearing.
Increasing one tooth on the counter sprocket and decreasing to teeth on the rear sprocket, will let you run with kx on topend.
Unfortunately, it will lose its low to midrange advantage and run pretty even there as well.
Only the desert guys should consider the above set up.
Stict motocrossers will like the stock gearing.
This makes the power easier to manage and first gear more usable.
